Post Insurance costs for older camaros

Hey everyone,Im almost 17 and want to get a sporty car. Anywho I figure insurance on a 94 V6 camaro would be around 2000 a year. If I got say,a 69 V8 how much would it be? I was just wondering because I thought old cars might be less. Thank you

Old cars might be a little less, my Trans Am is a lot less than my '95 firebird V6 conv.........I even added collision on it for $100 more, insured for about $6000.....I pay around 1800 or something, I forget, I know it was less than the '95........If you have just liability, its even cheaper.....

I was 21 when I got my 69 Firebird 400, and I payed I think $42 or so a month, and living in California we get reamed on insurance costs so figure that it should be expected to be less than a newer car - and MUCH cooler to boot!

If you plan to drive an older Camaro every day you need to get it appraised and then insured for the stated value. Most insurance companies will just insure it for it's depreciated value which means it's not worth squat because it's 30+ years old. Definitely talk to your insurance company in detail before you do anything. I'm going to need to insure my 69 Z28 JL8 crossram car for $65-75K when it's done next year.

Jeff,

Make sure you get AGREED value, not STATED value. Stated value can still be depreciated, look for comps, etc. just like any other car. You may agree on the price and have an appraisal, but that still doesn't guarantee the payoff in a total loss. Only agreed value does that.

My bad, I had agreed value on my last 67 RS/SS Camaro. And with the collector insurance, the agreed value acutally appreciates each year so you don't have to go back and get it appraised again. But that is collector insurance, not regular every day driver insurance.
