HID's

Anyone know of any company's that sell just the HID lamps? I know no one makes a 68 Camaro conversion kit, but unless I have to, I dont wanna buy some kit and pull out the lamps and then put them in my light housing. Buying the acutal lamps for cheaper would be much easier.

I am talking about real HID lamps, not the fake import geared ones, but real High Intensity Discharge lamps, seen in the new BMW's, Audi's and Mercedes.

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

There are conversion kits available for standard 7" lightbulbs. All you have to do is find a place to mount the ballasts.

I used to have a site bookmarked that had them for ~$400. Unfortunatly I lost it. Here's one that offers them for $600.

If that's a little steep, you might try just a halogen conversion kit. I Hella's kit in one of my cars and I'm very pleased with it. Best $100 I've spent on my daily driver

Ya, the HID's are sooo nice to drive with at night. I got to drive my uncles new Audi S8 last weekend and on Saturday night I took it to the Olympic Penninsula. At night there are NO lights, but with the HID low beams it was like I was on a fully street lit highway with my halogen highbeams on. I fell in love with them(and that car).

The link above to HID lights (Iguana)is for the regular lights, not HID. Here's a link to their HID kit:

They're normally almost $800 on sale for $440. These are the ones that are on the Mule, and they work and look awesome.

Because of the poor quality and lack of standards associated with LED and HID aftermarket lighting, SEMA has taken on the task of straighting this up. personnally I'd wait. right now theres nothing on color, brightness or pattern.

Mark Stielow used some sort of true HID headlamp on his "Mule" project '69 Camaro. I can't remember what brand though.

The description of the lights seems to say that they're high beam only and intended for use with a low beam kit.

The Iguana's I linked to are what's on the Mule. The other light they show to be used in conjunction with them is an auxiliary light, like a driving light that you would mount below the headlights if you wanted. They work fine just as the kit to replace the standard headlights on the car.
