Hey guys, I need a refresher

I'm giving my Mallory distributor the old heave hoe in favor of my old billet HEI unit. Its been more than a couple years since I last installed one and can't remember if I set initial timing with the advance unplugged/vacuum blocked or I just have everything set up and use the light (when its warm of course).

Thanks guys

I know its been a while since I've posted in here. Been busy with my bike lately but gas prices are coming down so my desire to work on the Camaro has been growing steadily recently. Had to move it today and sometimes I forget how much I love the sound of the 350 (355) chevy

Really it doesnt make a difference on base idle unless you have a really early curve, but ya disconnect and block the vacuum advance.
