HELP!! I have no vaccumme!!

My car has been running sluggash since my rebuild and I called the guys at Summit Tech, they said to check the vacuume and adjust it by 2". So I put a vacuume gauge on the carb (Holly 650 Double pump 4bbl) and I have NONE!!
Please help guys!

Well that sucks, or not...haha

Ok, if you're checking vacuum you need to hook the gauge up to the baseplate of the carb, not the metering block. You probably hooked it up to ported vacuum which only shows vacuum a bit off idle. That is used sometimes for vacuum advance or the charcoal cannister.

You can't necessarily adjust your vacuum. What you can do is adjust your idle mixture for best vacuum (highest steady reading). First start by making sure your mixture screws in the metering block are both turned the same ammount out. Turn one screw in lightly until it just stops while counting the turns. Turn it back out the same number of turns. Typically this will be from 1 to 2 1/2 turns depending on your setup. Do the same to the other side. If there is a difference between the two split the difference between them for a baseline setting. Start the engine with the vacuum gauge connected at the proper baseplate port and very slowly adust one screw in or out to find the highest steady reading and stop. Move to the other side and do the same. Your idle speed may and probably will increase. Adjust the curb idle screw back to your target idle speed and go back over the mixture screws again. More than likely your vacuum reading will have increased. I may turn both screws out 1/8 turn after this setting for a better cold idle.

A proper idle mixture will help off idle, but not heavy throttlle. Check ignition timing with the vacuum cannister disconnected before starting the idle mixture setting.

i was gonna be a smarta$$ and say go to walmart or sears and buy a new vacuum, just i dont know why you need one in a car?

lol, yea you can't really adjust vacuum, it's caused by cam and heads and driven by your pistons so, only way to 'adjust' it would be to rebuild the motor again, however the way to tune a holley is like markink said

You're still hooked up to ported vacuum.

Re: HELP!! I have no vaccumme!!

keep searching for a better port to plug into.
You have to have some vacuum off idle, or the engine wouldnt be running;
