Post Help With Foot Brake?

Hey everybody, I just had a quick question. I have a 1980 Camaro 305 A3 TH350 and my question is when I push the foot brake down it goes all the way down and it seems it is not locking in or catching. Any suggestions or ideas what could I check? Thanks in advance for the help.

You could try bleeding the lines, but it's probably your master cylinder that's shot.

You mean the parking brake?
It's spring loaded and has notches on it that "click" as it catches. If it's not clicking, the spring is broken.

Are you referring to the emergency brake? If so, the ratcheting mechanism might be broken/frozen. You would want to replace the whole assembly as the easiest solution.

you might also have a snapped/broken cable. There are three cables - one from the foot pedal and going back, then there are two rear cables (one to each rear tire).
