Help with '72 396/402 engine I'm building....

I recently bought a 396/402 out of a 1972 Chevelle SS. I am swapping it into my '78 Z/28 when it's done and want to be able to outrun my '97 Z/28. The heads on the 396/402 were cleaned up recently by a local machine shop, had a bowl blend and hardened seats put in. I think this motor was originally about 240hp/310tq. What cam/carb/valvetrain/etc setup would you guys use in this motor for it to really fly?

Brad

Oh yeah I already have a TH400 if that matters......

Brad,

There's this guy named Jason, who I believe is a moderator on another fbody message board. (The name of the board escapes me at the moment.) Anyway he is also running a '72 396/402 in his '78 Camaro. He used to be a regular at http://www.fbodychat.com so I was able to find his specs. (I hope he doesn't mind.)

Thanx jg, I didn't think the stock heads could make that much power, even with N2O....wow! Any other info is appreciated.
