Gasket question
Gasket question
Ok well lets start this off by its not my car.. my cousin bought an 86 s10 with a older style 350 put into it. well first things first right dont know whats been done so i start by looking at plugs..
i notice 7 are the same and there is 1 different. so i keep taking out.. i get 1,3, then the 5. the damn thing is cross threaded in! so it comes out very ****ty and pulls threads out with it! plug wont tighten now its stipped.
so heres the thing.. he bought heads 2 years ago that have been sittin in this house 2.02, 1.60s so its going to be an upgrade... what gasket kit should i pick up? im not sure what the motor came out of so i dont know what to buy. any help would be great! thanks guys

Depends, does he just want it to run, or is he picky about stuff like quench. If he just wants it to run, use a generic 350 sbc head gasket set, McCord or FelPro typically stocked by parts stores are fine. And I always retorque head gaskets, even if the gaskets are the "no retorque needed" type.
can you get the casting numbers off the heads and the number of the block?
Would probably be easiest to buy the gaskets you need individually rather than in a head set...
probably would be safe to get a set of fel pro head gaskets for a 70's 350. What intake is he running?

Might check to see which plugs the heads are using....washered or tappered...
Do the 202's have accessory boltholes?
Was one of the problems with using the old camel humps….no place to bolt the alt. Bracket…can be drilled/tapped…but is easier to drill and tap them on the bench…
