First Gen High Beam Headlight still out....

I have a 69 Camaro and the right High Beam was out. I replaced both bulbs (Brand New) and the right high beam is still out. I don't think that it could possibly be the bulb again. The connection to the bulb was loose before and seems to fit better with the new bulb. Both the low beams work and the left high beam works. Just can't seem top get the right high to work.

My question is....Could it be the wiring harness and if it is is there a seperate harness for each light. The wiring harness seems to be tucked in pretty good and replacing it could be interesting at best. (or so it seams) I don't really want to start removing fenders and such.

Could it be a relay?

Any ideas would be appreciated

thanks

I don't know the condition of your car or anything, but I will tell you my story. My car was "messed with" by someone else before I got it. So a lot of what I am doing is fixing the errors. Anyway.....when my highbeams were not working....I checked the wire harness and a couple of wires were loose in there. But still didn't fix the problem. (fixed my horn problem though!) I ran the wires to my high/low beam switch on the floorboard and that is where my problem was. It was all screwed up, the guy before me tried to glue all the wires together. So, that was my problem. I am going to put a relay system in mine soon enough though to make it all better. But if yours is in better shape than mine was.....it probably is not your problem. Later.

Quite often the problem is at the high beam switch as Doubleduce said. That location draws a lot of water and crap. If not check the wiring from the switch to the light itself.

Well I am going to start checking the wires from the lights and all first.

Kind of hard because they are all "hidden" but oh well. Also the highbeam floor switch...if there is only one wire that comes from the switch to the lights then it would not be the switch because one of the two high beams works. if there is two wires then it could be a wire to the bad light.

do you guys know if each headlight is wired to the floor switch...i guess i need to find a wiring manual.....

makes sense with the switch being on the floor being subject to corrosion and such.....

I looked at the floor switch and there is only one feed from the switch out. Check to see if it runs from the left headlight to the right one. The problem could be there. I used to have a wiring diagram but can't find it right now. Check your public library-that's where I got mine.

As Scooter said, power goes to one headlamp (probably left) with a jumper to the other one.

If you have a Volt-Ohm Meter, pull both headlamp connectors and check continuity from left to right on each of the 3 terminals. I suspect the jumper wire from left to right on the high beam is broken/missing/corroded.
