Engine rebuild suggestions.

I just pulled my 327 out of my '67 Camaro, and I'm looking for some suggestions on parts for the rebuild. Right now, I've got a late 60's 327 bottom end with late 60's-early 70's 2.02, 1.6 camel hump heads. I'm looking to build this thing into a high RPM motor, maybe in the upper 7k range, so I need some suggestions on intake manifolds and cam profiles. I'm not sure what type of cam I pulled out of the motor, since I can't seem to locate a normal GM casting number on it, but I'm going to replace it anyway since the distributor gear is wasted on it. This motor is going to be in a daily driver, so I don't want to remove all of my low-end torque, but loping and rough idle is cool. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For the cam I would suggest a solid lifter roller cam, I have one in my 69 and I love it. I am also running a performer RPM air gap intake and it seems to do a really good job. . The heads you have should flow pretty good so I am sure you can use them with no problems. Mine is a 454 but with my setup I shift at 7 grand without any problems.

Yeah, I was thinking about going solid roller lifters. They're so cheap that there's really no reason not to buy them. That, and I'm not sure how much I trust the hydraulic lifters that I pulled out of the block.

Maybe I just don't understand the specs on Edelbrock's website regarding their intake manifolds, but the performer RPM is listed at 1500-6500 RPM. I thought that meant that after 6500 RPM, you'd start coming down off of your peak curve. Is that not the case? I ultimately want to get this 327 shifting around 8000 and the only intakes I've seen advertised to go to 8000 are the Edelbrock Victor Jr. series ones. The problem with those is that they're advertised from 3500-8000. Does that mean I'd have no low end torque?

If you want to make power at that high of RPM's you won't have much of a bottom end and probably wont start to make power until 4000 rpm's. Can I ask why you want to shift at that high of RPM's, I think that is awesome you want to do that.

Yeah, I know I'm going to be lacking my low end, but I was hoping not to completely kill my ability to cruise in the car. High RPMs are just cool. I think it'd be rockin' to rev the same RPMs back and some import guy when sitting at a red light. Plus, before I pulled the 327, it sounded real good running to 6500+rpm

What kind of transmission will you be using?

Those heads should be fine, but some modern heads would probably be even better. If you want rev that high you'll almost certainly need a single plane intake manifold like the Victor Jr. You'll still have a decent amount of lowend torque, but of course it's not going to feel great until you rev higher. And if you use an automatic with a loose stall converter to take advantage of those high rpm, the car will suck as a dailly driver.

Right now I've got an M20 4-speed in the car, but I plan on gutting that in lieu of a T56 in the somewhat near future. I want to use the heads I have now because I already have them. My heads are essentially free whereas modern heads cost money

I was thinking about maybe this intake here:
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...SM/300-36.html

I know it's dual plenum, but it claims to be set from idle-7200rpm, which should do me fine. Any opinions?
