Easy question about stall converters...

I just picked up a 1978 Camaro last night. It needs a trans and I have a TH400 out of another car. The Camaro has a 305/350 (not sure which one) and I will be putting in the TH400 with a 2200 stall from a TH350. Will this bolt together easily? I was told the flywheel could remain the same.....any imput?

Most aftermarket converters have the dual pattern mounting holes on them, so whatever flexplate you have now should be fine. Just be sure to check it out before you get the tranny bolted up! Been there-not a good feeling

Youll have to move the crossmember back-this requires drilling through the frame right where the metal is the thickest. Not fun but possible!

Driveshaft will need to be shortened. Dont forget the th400 32 spline yoke (th350 is 27). You will also need the dual sized u-joint (the 400 yoke takes a large u-joint, the 350 driveshaft takes a smaller one).

If your just going to drive the car, I'd say the 400 is way too much work to put in it. Youll be better off finding a th350 (and save a few $$$ too).
