Do i really need heat?

confort is real low on my priorities and i really like my newly smoothed firewall. Is not having heat at all a bad thing? only goes out in the spring/summer/fall with good weather and i can always throw a jacket in the trunk. i think i will put a swich box where the old heater controls where.

Take some paper towels along also as you dont have a defroster.

Just my opinion and we all have one but no heat is even dumber than being cool and removing the airconditioning system and leaving the open freon line connections on the fire wall.

QFT. When I first bought my '71 Nova, the blower motor wouldn't run, even though the car still had a heater. Trust me, when you're doing 70 on the interstate and the windshield fogs up (and you have no way to unfog it), you're gonna want that heater/defroster.

On top of that, I'm thinking it will kill resale value when you want to get a new toy

If the A/C works it will act as a defroster, it's not as efficient as a/c+heat but a/c alone DOES work.

I drive in the same type of weather you do,and I just brought a jacket when it was cool. I dont drive on the highway or really long distances so I dont care about defrost.

True, but do you know anybody that willingly ditches the heater and still keeps the A/C? I don't!

If you want the best of both worlds, you can always go with a vintage air unit and smooth the firewall with a plate from DSE. The Gen IV AC unit fits behind the dash and has a small bulkhead that mounts way low so it is basically out of sight. This way, if you go on a long cruise like a Hot Rod Power Tour, you have the benefit of AC and heat, and yu still get a nice looking firewall.

for just defrost, you can always get a couple of those electric heaters(supposed to plug into cigarette lighter socket), mount them to point through the defrost vents at the windshield, and put them on a toggle switch

don't thank me for this tip, I got the idea from Duke on here

That's what I did and mounted the bulkhead fitting under the fender.
