Question Determining if a 1967 is a real SS

I am new to Camaros and looking at maybe purchasing a 1967 Camaro SS/RS. I have a picture of VIN and the trim tag. Any help is appreciated. Ian going to look at the car this weekend.

The trim tag on the firewall shows the car with 3L and 4P designations. 3L is for the RS option and 4P is for SS350. If you're wanting to learn more about how to decipher this tag, this page will breakdown the codes. The Camaro Research Group is the best source for 1st generation Camaro information I know of.

Thank you for the help. Is there anything else I should look for before purchasing?

Re: Determining if a 1967 is a real SS

An RS package will also have hood with louvers, the rocker panels are painted black with chrome trim, hide away headlights and the reverse lights are in the rear fascia panel and not the tail light assemblies. The SS model will have "SS" front fender emblems, horn ring, gas cap and a nose stripe. The trim tag picture you posted shows the car is an automatic with a tinted windshield, center console, standard black bucket seats and painted Madeira Maroon with a black vinyl top . An original engine will have a partial VIN and engine model stamped on the pad of the block on the front passenger side that can also help identify the car as an "SS" if it is still in the car. The more the car is equipped as it came from the factory, the more confidence I would have it is what the seller claims. If the seller has owned the car for long time, you might ask to see pictures from the past to verify the RS and SS equipment.
