Complete Fuel System

Hello All.

My 69 camaro is showing some dry rot on the lines. Now a normal person would just replace the lines. I'm not all that normal. I see this as an oppertunity. I am going to redo the whole fuel system.

I would like to know if anyone has a completly aftermarket fuel system on there car. If so what parts did you use.

I know its getting a Fuel Cell, Pump, Filters, Braided lines all the good stuff.

"Price Is Not A Problem"

Give me your best Ultimate fuel system.

Its a Strip car if that helps.

Thanks and look forward to some replys

Jason

I have a little over 7 feet of braided 3/8 line if you want it. $30 shipped. I only needed under 3 feet of it.

I have a Holley blue pump and regulator new still in box. the pump pushes 14 psi and 110 gal. per hour. I will let both go for $100.00 . I ended up with an extra one through a big ordeal from Holley.

My setup...in a 78z

RCI 16 gallon Foam Cell
Fram HPG1 filter
Holley Blue pump with stock regulator
Earl's -8 an line
Auto meter fp guage.
fittings gallore!

Your going to need mounting brackets for the cell.
Your going to need hangers for the fuel line.
If your running a mechanical now.. your going to need a block off plate.

Allow a extra few bucks for stuff you break, forgot in the process, cool stuff you want but don't need while doing this,ect.....

Make sure there are no kids as cussing will occur at any given moment.

Thats about all I can think of for now.

Ah, yes.. fuel systems.. i.e.money pit..

Previous setup on my big block was

Harwood cell
1 Holley blue and regulator, one Mallory Comp 140 and Holley regulator - seperate fuel system for nitrous on the blue side
Dual Fram filters
1/2" aluminum line, with braided lines on the end to cut out the vibration and noise from the pumps
twin fuel pressure gauges

New setup on the twins/injected motor

Aeromotive A1000 pump and regulator
1/2" feed and 3/8" return alum fuel line
Aeromotive inline 10 micron filter

seperate 1-gal cell with a B&M pump for the nitrous, with -6 braided hose and Aeromotive regulator

Figure on spending between $600 and $1000 on the fuel system, to do it right.

It looks nice and sounds nice. But I know of 2 people that said the foam inside their's deteriorated and then clogged the filter and lines.
Good luck with yours.

Zero problems as of yet with foam lined cell. Cell has been in the car atleast 5 years.

Alright guys, you're making me want to shed my car of it's $11 Autozone fuel pump and crusty original fuel lines. And that's not good because I need to save up for gears and a posi. In all seriousness, though, how would one determine what size braided lines to get? I'm not too familiar with the sizing system they use for that, but from all I've read it seems most use either -6AN or -8AN lines.

The -6AN is usualy good for a street strip car that is used for double duty and the -8AN is usually best for a all out strip car, but I do know a lot of people running -8AN on the street. I think the -6AN is close to 3/8 and the -8AN is close to 1/2 diameter.

Thanks, man. I figured the smaller size would be more than enough for my car, but it's good to get an idea of the size.
