Car Suggestions

There is a 1974 Camaro for sale near where I live, not sure if it is a LT Type or a Coupe Sport yet, I haven't seen it yet either so I don;t know the exact condition, but the article said that it runs, new exhaust and trans, but needs some body work, it is selling for $800. What do yall suggest I start with if I get it?

hey man welcome to the board.... this board really sucks for info about 2nd gens only a few ppl really know there ****.

i recommend that you go and visit nastyz28. Its the best 2nd gen site you will ever see.

Extreamly helpful forum and it also has a bunch of photos of REAL cars to compare and TONS AND TONS of info on what the cars had when they came out, options, and info on how to decode the "vin #" and other codes like that.

As for the car, 800 is pretty normal for a used 2nd gen there not worth a totally lot depending on what model u get, just make sure that the frame its self is not rusty and that its mechanicly sound before you buy it, also check out any info u can on emissions from where you are.

If your going to start investing money into this car, i would suggest starting with the body work and paint gettig it nice, then start moving to the inside, then motor, tranny, rearend, brakes things like that, going as far, depending on ur goals.

good luck to you.

Yeah, if the body needs too much work, I might end up not getting it, I was also suggested by that website by somebody else and it has helped me out a lot, thanks

800 is a good deal as long as the frame is solid and floors if you look at the car cheak under back seat in corners for rought and also cheack the body mount in front under the seats they some times rought and pop out good luck

Make sure there is little rust on body panels that cannot be easily replaced. If the front fenders or the hood is rusted, that's really no big deal because you could simply replace them. If there is rust in places like around the windshield or other windows (like mine ), frame, etc, then I would just run the other way. It's just not worth it unless you are loaded and/or completely love the car.

Sounds cheap if it runs ok. But look at the frame rails over the rear end and where the driver side leaf spring bolts in the front . I had a 4 speed 76 T/A that had rust their and the front bracket of the spring came through the floor while i was driving it! Talk abot a mess to fix!!!!
