breaking in engine
Cam break-in is essential for normal hydraulic lifter cams. Roller cams supposedly don't need to be broken in. When breaking in the cam, you will rev up from 2k to 3k rpms for about 15 minutes. You have to make sure you pushrods are spinning also. If break-in isn't done right, you can cause premature lobe wear on the cam.
You will typically take it easy on the car for the first 500-1000 miles while everything seats and loosens up. It is also bad to break in an engine on synthetic oil.
