How involved is a front disc conversion on a 1st gen I heard in alot of cases you dont even have to change out the spindles.

The drum brakes just dont stop like my 94 and they aren't power brakes and My right leg is going to be twice the size as my left leg

 

You can buy kits that will bolt right in. Just search the web. I'm going to put 12" late model camaro discs on my 68. So far it doesn't look that hard, and going to cost a lot less than some of the performance kits on the market.
