Biggest rims for a 1968 Camaro?

Friend at work has a '68 Z28 he looking to start fixing up and asked last night what the biggest size wheels/tires he could fit without rubbing is...
I had no idea.

He does not want to tub and doesn't want the wheels sticking way out of the wheel well either...

He only stipulation is he wants 17's all around, preferably with a 315 tire in the back, and a 275 tire in the front...

Sine I know some of you have owned/still own 1st gen's, I thougt I'd ask?

Any help appreciated!!

17x9" without tubs is what I've heard, 17x11" with 315s, no way, mini tub land.

17x8" is "common" in front.

Thanks Dr. Mudge!

If I couldn't find the answer he wanted me to take off one of the wheels on my Firehawk to see if it would fit
This was *much* easier

Thanks again!

You can buy reasonably cheap kits to measure backspacing and etc to try and max the sizes before you buy wheels, otherwise definately go with what others have used

275 is as big as u can go w/ out tubbin in the back. I'm running 17x9 rear and 17x8 front. But there is no way u can 315 back there
