Question BigBlock Heater box

Hello,

In my car ('69 Z-28) I want to change the heaterbox from Small block to the bigblock model. I have gotten the one that is in the engine compartment and a new element.

What I have found out is that the inside box is the same for both SB and BB, is that true? When trying to mount the element in the box the fasteners does not fit to the new element. I could probably use them with some fabrication done.

Does anyone know if there are different fasteners for the element or not? I can't find any information about this in parts catalogs.

Best regards

Jan

If memory serves me, There was a small difference in the fasteners. I just looked through my old assembly manual and there was no mention of the clips that hold the heater core in the box. I am sure that you could just bend the original clips to fit. The inner heater box is indeed the same for small block and big block.
