best resto parts company?
Hey guys,
I am in the process of partially restoring my 68 Camaro. I was wondering on you guys past experiences what company had the best quality of parts. Interior mainly. NPD, Classic Industries, or Year One. I noticed a little price difference in the three. Just looking for some advice on the three. Thanks for your help.

They have the biggest selection. Year one has a lot of the same stuff, for the same price, but not as much of a selection. And NPD has mainly aftermarket and replacement parts, all engine stuff. So go to Classic for your appearance needs and NPD for parts.
NPD gets my vote! I've never had a problem with them, and the parts actually fit (no "customising" needed). Best thing is, they have a free catalog (I hate places that charge for catalogs, I'm a cheap SOB).
I have purchased parts from all three - was not crazy about Year One, NPD was good for certain things - but I mostly used Classic Ind. If I had to do it over again - I would probably go with Rick's First Generation - same prices as the other guys - but no time limit or re-stocking fee for returns - no matter how long ago. They also have alot of original used / reconditioned parts - that some other Companies do not have.
I have used Classic, Year One, Ricks, NPD, D&R, Ground Up and probably a few others. In my experience with all of them Year One and Ricks are the Tops. Best Service and someone will be there to talk to you. And if you have a return, no flak.
Classic on the other hand hardly has anything in stock. They tell you they do, and when you get your shipment half of it is back ordered. And if they tell you the item you ordered is made by OER. You might as well find a Hemmings to find a NOS part that you need or find a good used one. The OER part for your Camaro will fit a 57 Chevy better than the car it was designed for originally. In fact I am still waiting for a Shifter Plate I ordered from Classic over 7 years ago now. And yes at the time they told me it was in stock but since then it has been magically backordered.
If you need a part for a Second Gen Camaro or even a First Gen go to Moementum Camaro. They will give you the straight talk about a part and its availability.
Good luck,
Bob R
