BB ram jet
BB ram jet
can these only be put on the 350's and 502's? i will be stroking a 454 to a 496 and i was wanting to use one. can it be done without too much effort? i haven't heard of one on a 454 so i was unsure. thanks!
Don't see why you couldn't
All short deck big blocks (ie:non- HD truck engines) should be able to use that ram-jet intake as long as you have rectangular port heads. I am not sure if they make an oval-port version, but the Ram-Jet 502 came with rectangular port heads.
Actually, they make adapters so you could even run it on a tall deck (10.2") truck block if you wanted.
The only thing is that intake, although nice looking, is really tall. So make sure you have hood clearance. If you do, go for it and have a little 'bulldog' sitting up on top of your motor.
Also, you'll have to reprogram the PCM because the system is designed as a speed density system and the 502 flows more air than a 454, so your vacuum readings would be different and hose the fuel metering....how much I don't know.
Actually, if your going to have a 496...it might work out of the box since it's fairly close to the same cubes, the difference being you'll have more port velocity than a 502 due to the longer stroke.
