Am I lucky or what?
Heck yeah, those are Torque monsters... I was really looking at runnin a 406, but I found a really good deal on a late model 350 block, so I'm goin with a 383.... I'm only gonna wind it to about 6800 rpm, and I've got a complete 4340 bottom end, with 2618 JE forged Nitrous pistons, so I think it'll hold up.... I went with a low (10:1) compression ratio so I could run more nitrous..
I want to see some more pics of your cars!!! I'll take some more of mine too...

A 383 will work....
Hey Mean - a friend of mine has a built 383 in his '71 RS Camaro, and with a fiberglass hood and front seats, went in the high-10's. He has since 'streeted it down' some with the factory (heavy!) buckets put back in, and a Goodmark cowl steel (heavy!) hood put on. He is now in the mid-high 11's, but did all of this so his wife would feel a little more comfortable driving around in it. He runs a 383 with Cola 4340 crank, Oliver rods, and Ross pistons at 10.8:1 with fully worked Sportsman II heads. He also runs a Vic Jr. intake with an 830 annular discharge Holley carb. The cam is a Comp street roller, something like 244/252 duration on a 112 lobe sep, and 4.56 gears with big ET streets. The engine power works out to something like 515 HP on the Moroso calculator. That engine has been going strong now for the past 10 years!
Something like that with a mild 150 shot of nitrous would be some kinda mean 650+HP street stomper.
You will love your 383.

Damn, was that on just the motor??? Here the air is so crappy that it usually corrects to over 5000ft!
I'm waitin to see how many Transmissions I go through... lol... I'm gonna spray 150 off the line, and enrich it to around 300 with a dual stage.... I'm gonna take every safety measure there is, timing, fuel pressure safety switch, timing control, dedicated fuel system, and prayer...... lol... I'm hoping for mid 10's out of it....
I'm actually kinda worried about the block strength... I've built it with a tough *** bottom end, with studded 4 bolt mains, but it's in a stock late model block. I just couldn't fling enough cash for a motown, or dart block.. I'm thinkin maybe since I'm gonna keep the RPM's below 7000 it will be okay... I hope..

Dude, that doesn't look too bad! Awesome setup... I've got a few questions for ya... I see you have Draglites on the front... What size are you runnin, and what backspacing??? Was mounting the fuel cell hard??? I'm looking into doing the fuel cell thing. Is the front end a little loose with no fenderwells??? I took mine out, and it's a little shaky now. It seems that everything braces up to the fenderwells... I'm not puttin them back in though.. lol...
Mad props on the car... It looks pretty damn good to me...

Hey Scott sounds good. I hope to have the qtr panel on and interior worked on before next spring. Then we can shoot come pictures.
Yall want to see an awesome car Check out XcYZ's car. The pictures do not do this car justice. Its an amazing ride and runs the part!!!!! I believe this car will be in a future issue of Car Craft????
Mean.. Most of this work was done before myself owning the car.
If you want I can get some up close pictures of the cell from the inside and underside. Give you an idea of what it takes.
The rims are a 15X5 .. not sure of back spacing. I ll have to check. They will be for sale in the very near future.
The front of the car is very solid..no adverse affects without the wells.

Yep. Our local track is Mission Raceway, in Mission, BC. This is the track where many NHRA Stock and Super Stock records are set every year in May at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series opener.
The track is about 30 feet from the Fraser River, and a few miles from the Pacific Ocean itself. I think its actual elevation is 6 or 10 feet above sea level.
In good air, you can get some pretty good mineshaft weather conditions.

That really is an impressive piece of work. You can hear that kick-in-the-a$$ from the N2O.
I stay away from the laughing gas. I can't afford to replace stuff, ya know. Well, I can- I just don't want to.

Thanks, you can definitely feel the kick in the a$$ too... lol...
I've been pretty lucky with nitrous, cause this motor has probably had 200 10lb bottles through it.... On summer weekends, I'll use a bottle friday night, and a bottle saturday night... lol.... The only drawback is that after sprayin, it feels so damn weak all motor.. lol....
