I just got this cherry z with ttops and I'm puttig a 79 305 in her for now to get her to move around so I can work on getting it restored..The problem is I'm not sure if I'm using the correct firing order I have book but it is not for a 79 305. also the number 1 is on the pass side of this year? And the rotor should face what Piston/ Will post pics of car and thanks for the help ...

 

the terminal at the front of the distributor to the right when you are looking at it from the front is number 1 the rotor should point to that position
firing order is 1836572

 

If you mean the spark plug, all Chevys have #1 on drivers side.
