80 Camaro exhaust questions

I just bought an 80 Camaro with a 383 and TH350. I have some Hooker super comps long tube headers to put on. The current exhaust is shot. I was planning on doing a X-pipe after the headers, then muffs going into a turn down before the rear axle. My question is what mufflers do some of you guys recommend? This is for a weekend cruiser and racer.

Thanks,
Chris

Flowmaster 2 chamber's...then pick a series that suits the noise level you want.

Flowmasters are good if you don't mind the resonance while you are driving. I have had friends that used the deltaflow mufflers and didn't have any sort of power loss and they were a bit quieter. If you have the money, I would say Borla mufflers are awesome behind V8's. They are a tad expensive though.

I know alot of guys with LS1 and LT1 do Dynomax bullets when they run true duals. Do these sound good on an old school V8? I know they are cheap.

Re: 80 Camaro exhaust questions

I ran Dynomax Ultrafow welded on my 70. Just didn't want the hollow, tinny noise of flowmasters.
If you're worried about clearance, Magnaflow makes a thin muffler in 2.5 and 3" ID/OD. Both are straight though designs and both will be quieter than flowmaster and flow better.

Bullets are loud. Twisters are less so, but I wouldn't run a dumped car with either. If you like loud, they would sound good.

Wheaterh an exhaust sounds good is totally opinion though. Go to a meet or the track and listen to some exhausts on similar set ups.

2.5" pipes for duals are plenty for a 383 aren't they. Anyone know where I can catch some sound clips at on the net?

I'm running 3" to the mufflers and then 2.5" over the axle on my "stock" size LT1.
