One thing I can tell you to really be careful about is the carb bracket for the TV (throttle valve) cable. TV cable adjustment is extremely important on the 700. It's not just a kickdown, it controls pressures/rates. Too low pressure for a given amount of throttle = dead clutches. My nephew swapped an Edelbrock carb on his 87 Z28 and mickey moused the original qjet bracket to work. Burned up the tranny within a couple of weeks. There are aftermarket brackets for under 30 bucks. There is a link on thirdgen.org on how to properly adjust tv cable.
Other than that, you need to get a different crossmember or modify the original, shorten the driveshaft. Uses the same driveshaft yoke as a th350. If you have a th400, you need another yoke. Get it cheap on ebay. Is your flexplate double drilled? There are 2 patterns for the torque converter bolts. If yours has both patterns, you're good to go. Only one, you need to make sure it has correct pattern for the converter.
Switch is needed if you want the torque converter to lock up. A simple carb throttle switch like the one used on th400s is a no go. It was only used to tell the tranny that heavy throttle was in use and to kick down the tranny under certain conditions. You could use a toggle switch and manually engage the lockup when cruising on the freeway in 4th, or there are aftermarket units that will control lockup automatically. Call Jegs or Summit and tell them you need a lockup controller for a non computer car. Does the same thing as a switch in 4th, but it costs about 80 bucks. But it won't forget to switch off.
