69' Camaro with a T-56 Question

1969 Camaro with a 94' Z28 LT1 and T-56.

I got no help in the Drivetrain board so I thought I'd try here. I know its Classic engine tech but maybe someones got this setup too.
I'm replacing the stock T-56 shifter with an aftermarket one. I thought I'd check to see what shaft length and angle felt comfortable in the first gens.
The T-56 is slightly back further. I'd also like to see if anyone has any advice on how to tastfully mount the shifter boot to the floor. I'm going directly to the carpeted tunnel (no console). If the shaft design looks good I'd like the boot to be low at the base. Thanks.
