Re: 69 camaro

What's the history on the car? Might be better off putting the correct one in there. If there's nothing really significant about the car that makes it collectable, then put whatever you want in there.

Re: 69 camaro

If you want to go the high power route I wouldnt recommend a crate engine unless you dont have important resources such as time and tools. If your going to put that much money into something I would say built yourself after doing some research. Look at some Chevy High Performance, Hot Rod, or whatever that engine building mag is and just look for combos you like, at least that way you get some ideas on what the figures are for different combos since they dyno all there engines.

Re: 69 camaro

It sounds like you should get with your dad and do some research into what exactly you want out of the car. Will this be your first car? Do you guys have the resources to maintain it? Will it be a daily driver? You should think abotu the answers to those questions before you start your buildup.

Awesome! Well in that case it depends if you wanna go big or small block or EFI or carb. GM performance parts offers some baddass crate motors through Scoggin Dickey parts center. You can get the GM performance parts catalog from any GM dealer. Edelbrock also a some great crate motors. Then you could always go my route and swap in a late model LS1/LS6 drivetrain.

Re: 69 camaro

That's an extremely open ended question. If you want good power and reliability, drop in a 502 crate motor.

Re: 69 camaro

I went with a 350HO small block crate motor because my car is driven daily and I wasn't all that concerned with excessive power. To make it more driveable I went with a Tremec 5-speed and Bear drilled and slotted 4-wheel disc brakes. I also redid the entire suspension. While its not a true g-machine in the sense as I didn't bolt in a Corvette suspension or put in a Wayne Due subframe, its still holds its own and is relatively a tight and great handling little car. Further down the road I might play with an EFI, or bolt in a big block, but for now, I'm quite happy with how it turned out...
