67 Camaro build up

Roommate just picked up a 67 Camaro for 800 bux. The interior is nearly flawless, I couldn't believe it either. All the glass is perfect. The body is hurt. Needs both 1/4s, drivers front fender, trunk pan and rear window is rotting out.
His goal is to make a road race race out of this fine piece of equipment.
What would it cost to put the vette suspension or a wayne due/global west style set up on the car and repair the body? I told him about 10k by the time its right, plus the cost of whatever drive train he wants. Assuming he can get me to work on it w/ him maybe 7k.

Your looking at more than that. 2 quarters and 2 fenders installed with rust fixed in other normal areas (rockers, rear window, trunk, exct) and a good paint job will be VERY expensive. Without the paint job anywhere from 3-8 grand roughly. Its possible to spend 10's of 1000's on paint though. The metal work alone will be very expensive also. Plan on at least 8 grand for good metal and good paint.
As for the suspension I have no clue. I did read in Super Chevy about a total custom front subframe from Chassisworks. Looks like a REAL nice piece. Rack-and-pinion, tubular control arms, disk brakes, the works. Probably very expensive to.
Good luck, sounds like a kick *** project.

Can't you just get re-pop or fiberglass quarters? I'd think the weight reduction of the fiberglass would be wanted anyway.

True, you could even go with a full front clip, made of 'glass. It will save weight and be cheaper. (probably ) But when I read his post it seemed like he wanted new quarters and fenders in steal. Plus the rear quarters are going to be your biggest problem anyway. They need to be alligned perfectly and welded perfectly if you don't want rust coming back. this takes a VERY skilled welder and someone who knows metalwork. The front fenders (if you wanted them in steal) would be a direct bolt on and paint job so either way it will cost you. Good luck though.

Red face

Lets just say with the body AS IS, to to the Wayne Due front with a pro-touring theme, you'd be into it around $19k. That is Zero body work and paint. Trust me, i've done this in the past, and went a little over board with the new project.

Cool WOW!

Teetoe, that is the sweetest damn ride. Absolutely beautiful. I don't even want to think how much that cost you. But well worth the time and money I'm sure. What do you use that for? Race, show? Again that is the coolest car I have ever scene. Props to you.

Talking

Thank you, thank you.
The car is not even close to being done. I still have a few things in the works:
Baer 6 piston 14" brakes
HRE 18" 542 rims, (18x9 F, 18x12 R)
twin garrett T3/T4 turbos on a forged bottom end LS1
Carbon fiber fenders, door, hood, and trunk
Custom spoiler on the front
Porsche 996 dash conversion.
We'll be rolling from this point after the 12pt cage get installed....
