If you want to keep the 69 clutch linkage and bell housing, they sell one called the T56 Retro. it has the extended input shaft and late style bell housing removed(there is a plate installed).

I am doing the same thing in my 1963 Chevy II however will be using a 1996 LT1 Motor and a T56 whenever I can find one for a decent price. Good luck to you on your project!

Give McLeod a call.. They have an adapter plate that they sell. Makes everything mount up perfect with the old bellhousing. You can even use the LT1 trans, you just have to swap the input shaft out for the LS1 input shaft.

Its a very easy upgrade. I did this in my friends 67 RS and it was a snap.

www.ddperformance.com makes the drop in kit setup for mechanical speedos and clutches, but it looks like their website is down right now.

Re: 6 speed in 69 camaro

I am in the exact same boat as 69Z-28. I am giving thought to this swap also, but I just ordered a dual friction clutch for my muncie, so I was wondering if it is possible to run a T56 with a hydrolic clutch. I went through all the sites about and they all want to sell the the hydrolic parts. Thanks

Yes you can run the T56 hydraulics with your SBC. I would buy a used T56 and make sure you get the hydraulics with the tranny. Tyler at ATS: www.t56kit.com can modify yours or sell you a new GM part. I used his kit and am very happy.

Wow, I haven't been here in a loooooong time.
We can hook you 1st gen guys up with any setup of a T56 you can dream up. Call us to go over your application, and we'll help you find something that works for your budget/intended use. I promise you will not find a better fitting, easier to install T56 kit, than the one we make.
