Hey guys. Trying to put a 400 SBC together with my friend, he has the head gaskets that came in a victor kit, but they look like they might not fit. They fit fine sizewise and have steam holes in them, BUT, there a couple of these where the hole in the block is huge, but the one in the gasket is way smaller. I think around a couple of water passages between the center two cylinders. Is this normal? Or do we need new gaskets? Thanks.

 

yeah thats normal..The kit is for the 400 engine isnt it?All head gaskets have the smaller holes in them at teh water jackets..I never understood why but ive always seen it that way in all the engines ive built..

 

do you have a 2 bolt main? or a 4blt main?
