383 build recommendations
I am helping a buddy build a motor, he is trying to stay on somewhat of a budget, I am trying to put together a 383 hydraulic roller that will get between 100-150 shot. I was looking at the partiot performance 225cc heads but am open to suggestions, also need a stroker kit. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Oh boy, tough call.
You need to tell us what kind of car your buddy owns, and whether or not this is for road race, street, drag, autocross, or towing rig. Will it be carburated, fuel injected, run on pump gas, or race gas? Does it have to be internally balanced, or can it be externally balanced? Will it use the one piece rear main seal engine block, or the old two-piece RMS?

I would go with a rotating kit from Eagle, as the kit features a choice of cast or steel crank, new rods and pistons that are matched. Personally if it were me, I would go with a steel crank, forged 6" I-beam rods and forged flat top pistons. For heads, I would go with either a set of Dart Pro-1 heads or AFR. Does your friend want to run a dual plane or single plane manifold?
I have a 355 in my Camaro now, and in a few years after I have beaten it down, I will replace with a big block, more than likely a ZZ-572.
We've been a sponsor on here for well over a year i believe now :-D
