350 Marine Block
350 Marine Block
Would it be any different building a marine block for a car then a standard block? I'm looking for a 350 and found a marine block locally, just wondered if there were any pros or cons to using a marine block as the foundation for my build. Its just a bare block so I'd start from the ground up using purchased "automotive" heads, rods crank ext..
Thanks,
Craig

Marine Block
When using a block out of a boat, couple of things to do.
Make sure you flush and hot tank it real well as most of them were run in lakes and rivers-Sand-Mud-ect. We used
to run filtration systems on them but still silted up after
a while.
Higher end boats were closed loop but still use filters
that need servicing.
Also test for cracks and pressure test. Cold water and hot
iron don't play well togeather. Heads were specially a problem
You can go back and forth sb-bb boat or auto.

What are you planning on building? The 400 block has lots of potential for "fun" motors.
