350 casting year
350 casting year
Well guys, I still haven't figured out my engine's year yet, but I do have more pictures. Here is the previous thread where I was trying to figure out my block's year:
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...50+engine+code
Now, here are some additional pictures of my block stampings:
http://web.tampabay.rr.com/stalemeat/enginecode/
The first picture should read T072IHC. The second picture reads GM 3858180. And the third picture should read 6T 0NV1. This may or may not be the correct numbers/letters as I have been known to be a complete moron. A zero may be an O, and some of those ones could be I's and vice versa. If anybody can tell me the year of the block I'd be happy though
Thanks!

Wow, I feel like a dunce. According to like every site in the world, including mortec.com which is pretty straight, the casting number for 3858180 is for a 327 not a 350! My bad
Well it looks like I have either a '64-'67 327 or a '65 Corvette 327, anybody know how to decode the date?

The 180 block casting was used durning the years 65-66 in passenger, Chevelle and Vette applications.
The HC engine suffix shows up as a 65 327, 250hp, 4-BBL Powerglide passenger car.
The third number doesn't look like a casting date at all and may not be. Usually the casting date codes begin with a letter and end with 2 or 3 digits.
Example: I89
I= Month: Sept.
8= Day: 8th
9= Year: 1969
