1973 Z28, Hedman Header installation, not even.

Over the weekend we installed a set of Hedman longtubes and a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system on a friends 1973 Z38...

Everything went fine, except that we noticed that the driver's side header sat about 1 to 1.5 inches lower than the passenger side header at the collectors...

Everything was bolted up tight... no issues.

Any ideas as to why this would be?

We were able to bolt up to the exhaust OK, but it's definately lower on the driver's side.

Are the motor mounts in good condition?

Seemed to be... that was our first thought too.

My father-in-law has a lift, so we can get a good look at everything.

Motor seems to be even. Even up top... air cleaner is level, etc.

We even though that the frame could be slightly twisted, but can find no evidence of that, and the car rides smooth and even...

1st gen Camaro's are the same. I think it's just a "live with it" kind of thing.

The manufacturing tolerances for headers is not very tight. And they very from car to car and batch to batch. It's interesting that the headers for my 74 Camaro were off by quite a bit. With the proper use of a torch and pry bar they can be bent. Or you could just beat them into submission with a BFH.
