Exclamation Is it too much to ask....

All I am looking for is an older...well newer as in 76-79 camaro any body style.

Locally I found 1 car, a 79 base model Camaro. Nothing special, Red on Red.

The guy said it had a 323 in it. He wanted $2500 fot it. I thought it was

unusually high priced. I thought maybe $1800 if that and that was high

balling a bit I felt anyways. Too bad I didn't have the cash when a guy

offered me his 71 with salvaged title. All done for $2500. How much do these

cars go for?? I am becomming a very frustrated buyer. I didn't think I was

asking for too much. Or am I going about it the wrong way? I am located in

California (yes smoggin does suck) Central area. If anyone has a car with the

criteria lemme know! camaro_rebel@hotmail.com

Well that depends. Are you looking for a project car, or a really good shape weekend driver? Are you looking for something that's "pre-built"? If you are, then $2500 is probably a good deal for just about anything.

A lot of guys have the preconceived notion that _anything_ with the Camaro/Firebird nameplate is worth a small fortune (there's a lady here in Phoenix that's been pushing a rough early 80's Berlinetta project with a 4 banger for $1500, when there are plenty of runners with V8s for 1500 as well). These are '69s people

From a personal standpoint, I'm looking for a part runner/part project 93-97 F-body (something driveable, solid drivetrain, may need some/a lot of interior and/or body work). I know full well I may be searching for something like this for quite some time. If you don't have $5000 in cash ready and waiting, you'll probably be looking for a while yourself.

I just figure the longer I wait, the more I can save, the nicer the car I start with.
