Please Help!!
Okay, heres the short version of the story.I need some serious help.
In October of 2000 a beautiful new Camaro Z28 was bought by a 69 yeard old guy from Colorado and 6 months later after he passed away was sold to a very greatful 23 kid also from Colorado, who obviously didnt understand the concept of sleeping. He fell asleep at the wheel doing 65-70, went into the ditch, up and thru a barbed wire fence and that was the end of this cars life. The car was then sold at auction to a salvage yard here in SD thru Clode.com ( an auction house based out of Colorado).the car was intended to be parted out until the salvage owner had a freind who wanted the entire drivetrain to place in one of those woodpaneled wagon things from the 50's. he bout the car in 2003 and it sat in a feild on my way to work for better then 3 years. I finaly tracked down the new owner and offered to buy the car, he accepted and i bought it for $4000.00. Bought new fenders, hood, and some odds and ends, and a new fuel pump module becasue the gas was original from 2002 and seized the old one. Anyway the guy I bought the car from told me he had all the titling info and gave me a BOS and we went our seperate ways.I contacted the old owner and he had told me the title was still in his name and he would help me do anything I needed to get it out of his name. So today he went to get a duplicate title, but was unable to. Seems the ins. company totaled the car and branded it *FOR PARTS ONLY*. I am now unable to ever get a title for this car. The only option I have is to find a different wrecked car and use this on as the source car to build the other one. That is my only option according to CO and SD.The car only has 36,000, and is completely done frame straitened, new front clip assembled, thank god i didnt paint it yet!!What i am looking for is the biggest pile of junk preferrably 2000 or new with a clear transferable title. It is totaling legal to do this in SD. I dont want to lose to much in equity by going any older then 2000 for resale purposes if i ever choose to sell it. I have invested close to $6500 into this and yes i know I should have never handed over the check without getting the title first, but this guy is surgon in town and never would have thought anything like this would have happened....Can anyone help me keep this car on the road...please!!!!
