I am looking for a good running, mechanically sound car. Looks don't matter, it doesn't need to have a new paint job, or perfect interior. I just don't want to buy it and have to replace fuel injectors, or find that it uses a lot of oil, etc. Please do not post your car here if you know that it is not an excellent running car.

The cheaper the better, I'm looking to spend somewhere between $1,500-3,000 depending on the mileage and how bad the interior/exterior is. Again, the car must be a GOOD RUNNING car, this will be a daily driver. I'm looking for this to fix up for my girlfriend, and don't have time or money to spend on fixing mechanical problems, but I do have the materials and skills necessary to fix interior and do a good paint job.

*Edit* I forgot to mention what cars I'm looking for:

Preferrably a 1986-1992 IROC-Z or Z28...or possibly a GTA/TA. I have had a TBI car and it was alright, I'd like to steer towards another TPI car if possible, but I will buy the best deal I see. Coupe/T Tops/Convertible...doesn't matter as long as it runs good. Manual and automatic transmissions are both welcome

pay the extra and go tpi... i have 2 tbi 91-92's that run and look great and can't get rid of them for 2k. it's worth the little extra as you get so much more.
