thirdgen for sale
I haven't been on this site in a while, or messed with camaros in a while. So I have decided to sell my thirdgen.
I don't have any current pictures of the car (but can obviously get them if there is any interest).
The car is a 1983 camaro. It was orignally a 2.8 six, but has a tpi 350 in now. All of the body parts are 85 IROC, as are the wheels. Specifics about the car:
engine: just a standard 40 over 350. I rebuilt the engine about 35k miles ago, and it doesn't leak or burn oil. Stock TPI intake. Very mild cam, lots of bottom end. I kept the 19lb 305 injectors out of the parts car, but it is a mild build and doesn't go lean up top. Compression is a little under 10:1, and I always ran pump gas. On the hwy it gets about 25mpg. All tpi parts are from a 85 IROC, and the current chip that is in it is one I programmed for slightly higher fuel pressure to get away with the 19's. It has a jacobs igntion system and Edelbrock TES headers, dynomax exhaust. The engine feels really good down low, but is pretty much done at 5k.
transmission: rebuilt 700R4 (also 85 IROC). Shifts really well. Ever since I have owned the car, if it sat still for more than a week the transmission would form a puddel. Drive it everyday it doesn't leak. This didn't change after the rebuild. I am assuming it is some kind of check valve issue, but drive it often and it doesn't leak.
suspension: All 85 IROC, rebuilt with PST polygraphite componets probabably 50k miles ago. Also got kyb shocks and struts at the same time.
stereo components: it was all high end stuff 10 years ago, but at this point it is just a decent radio. But it does have cd player, and component speakers and an amp
Overall condition- car was repainted for the last time 8 years ago. The horizontal surfaces are starting to fade pretty bad. There are a few dents in the doors. Clean the car doesn't look that bad. The interior is ok, but it was a base model car, so no power windows or doorlocks (back when I was in high school I was trying to keep it light LOL). The cruise and converted 134 AC works. Tires probably still have 10k left in them. Also the power steering leaks. I think it is where the resevior is crimped togther, as new lines didn't fix it.
The car is a decent fun driver. I have owned it since I was 13 years old, and put alot of my own time and money in it over the years. For the last 3 years I have been telling myself I am going to completely redo it, but It is obvious to me if I keep it I will just let it rot. I have put less than 1000 miles a year on it the last 4 years.
I guess I would take 1800 for it, and cry for a couple of weeks. I just would like someone who loves thirdgens to get a decent project/driver and actually enjoy it.
