GI: 1996 Z28 M6 71k 2 owner - price cut - $5,000

Hi All,

I am debating selling my Cayenne Red 1996 Z28 6-speed. It' s 2 owner (I am the 2nd) car that is fully optioned for the year (T-Tops, Bose, TCS, etc). It is 99% stock - the only mods being a K&N CAI and a GM Hurst Shifter with a Pro 5.0 stick. I have all the original parts that came off the car. It has 70,900 miles on it. It currently has a valid inspection through 10/13 and a clear carfax. I have the title in hand.

Here's the story on the car:

I bought it several years back from the original owner with 68k on it. It was purchased and owned/driven in DC, so it was free of salt and rust. I must have looked for 6-8 months to find an unmolested, lower mile LT1, 6-speed that wasn't astronomically priced. These are getting really, really hard to find in this condition. When I bought the car from the original owner it was in need of some attention. It had been sitting for a few years and it truly was his daily so it was dirty and needed TLC. It truly was stock though, and that was important to me. So I flew to DC on my way home from Orlando for work, bought it, and drove it home to MA, where the car is located (01760). It averaged 28mpg on the tank I used, mostly highway, but did have some local traffic in DC.

As you can tell, I haven't driven it much. Mostly nice summer days, other than that it has sat in my driveway under the carport, and certainly hasn't seen any winters here. The car runs & starts every time, mechanically it runs like a top.

As with any 17 year old car, it's not free of minor issues, and I will do my best to 100% list everything little thing wrong. If I haven't listed it, please assume it works (heat, AC, windows, etc all work). To be honest, they all originate from the prior owner and I haven't gotten around to fixing them the way I had planned. So here is the list:

- It has a very, very slow rear intake manifold leak, a few drops here and there, and this is common.
- It's on the stock clutch still. The clutch grabs high but is still fine. I have a brand new LT4 clutch assembly I will either install or give with the sale.
- It has the steel driveshaft vibration at highway speeds, but only after 80mph; before that it is fine. I have an aluminum LS1 shaft I will either install or include with the sale.
- The dash pad is cracked, but it's minor relative to some of the horror shows I have seen. I have a perfect dash pad I can include with the sale when you want to replace it.
- The coolant and oil level sensors are finicky; they throw the lights occasionally, however, the oil and coolant levels are 100% fine. It is just the sensors being 17 years old.
- The paint is in great shape, aside from the doors, where there is clear peeling. It does have some chips and what not but it still shines nice. As it stands, I would say 8 out of 10, fix the doors and it's a 9.
- The interior, likewise is in good shape for the age. Drivers side bolster wear (not worn through) and the mentioned dash pad being the worst of it. The headliner is worn in a few places, and the t-tops don't leak in the rain.
- The stock rims have some curb rash.

I have some negotiable mods with the sale I was planning on using, including a set of AS&M headers and ypipe in good used condition.

KBB good condition is $6,900, and I feel that it does fit the description of good by KBB. I am asking $6,500. I know that may appear to be high on an F-body site, but I know the right buyer, who was like me, will feel it is worth it, and I will wait for that buyer. Some searching on autotrader, ebay, etc. shows that the price is really fair for the condition & miles.

If you are serious I can provide some pictures. Please PM me.

Let me know of any questions.

Thanks,
Brian

Here is a link to pictures - I took these after taking the car through a touchless car wash, so you can see that the paint is in great shape, even without any professional attention.

Also, I forgot to mention that I debadged the front Z28 badges and the mouldings, but have them all.

TTT, great car to start your build with or to just drive and enjoy without issue.

Thanks - I wanted to add that I did all new brakes, they have about 1,000 miles on them. The battery is a few years old, however, only has about 2,000 miles on it.

Could be trading in next weekend, save her from the dealership and the high price you know they will charge for her once they go through and resell it.

Price drop - $5,000 as she sits, will include the clutch with the sale. I am keeping the LS1 DS. Dealership is going to be close to $5,000 for a trade and don't want to lose her to the dealership!

Trading her in today......sad to see a clean 2 owner M6 LT1 go most likely to auction to reappear for a lot more at a used car lot.
