FS: Silver 97 TransAm- Lots of mods- $5500 obo
Video at bottom!
Okay, I recently acquired an '05 vette, so I’m considering selling the silver 1997 TransAm for my new project. I'm curious as to if there would if it would be worth it to sell as a whole or to part out. $5500 OBO
The motor is a 355 lt1, only about 2.5k miles on the motor since rebuild (all parts only have about 2.5k miles on them). The car has 135k miles on the odometer. Most mods listed in sig, but will try and list them all again here.
the Rebuilt P&P heads are the Lloyd Elliot LE3 package and the cam is the LE2: (info from site: http://www.eportworks.com/lt1.html)
Heads & cam package will pull from 2,600–6,800 RPM and should make *410 - 430 RWHP with 36/42 lb. injectors, 58 MM T.B. or Monoblade, GOOD tuning, etc. This will idle similar to the GM847 but make about 10 more HP at peak and starts making HP sooner than the GM847. Requires 4.10 gears & 3,000 (or more) stall for best results.
The LT1 LE3 heads consist of:
Larger valve seats installed in Heads
2.05/1.60 Valves
Comp Bee Hive Springs
Titanium Retainers & 10° Locks
208 CC Intake Port
Milling, Cleaning, Assembly
Flow About 280/195
cm retainers & 10 degrees locks
Bronzeliners
Ready to bolt on
LE3 Head/Cam Package - $2,050 plus shipping. $1,700 for Heads only.
I have 37# Delphi injectors with the walbro 255 pump and pump kit fit for the F body. The intake was also ported by LE. I have the AS&M 58mm polished aluminum throttle body. Valvetrain includes 1.6 ProMagnum Rockers, Morel lifters, Comp Cam Magnum Push Rods. Includes an OBDI pcm tuned by Ion at MadZ28.com. I am running the Jet Hot Long tubes and that has x-pipe setup with dumps before the axle. Will also include the 3" JetHot coated y-pipe (brand new) if someone prefers a different setup. The car also has a Meziere electric water pump (http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...p&vid=4&pcid=5) along with a brand new opti and new NGK plugs with Taylor 8mm custom fit wires and brackets to route around the headers along with plug boots for protection from the heat. The radiator is brand new with brand new Good Year tubing throughout. Has a 160* T-stat and never moves over that, even in the Florida heat. The oil pump is a brand new pump with the higher pressure spring.
Drivetrain includes, but not limited to, McLeod Street Twin Clutch with McLeod Clutch Master Cylinder (found here: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=4&pcid=72 w/ steel flywheel for $1300). Custom fit "Nitrous Ready" driveshaft from Denny's driveshaft’s w/ 1350 yoke. (http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/nitrous_ready.html). BMR Full length Adjustable Torque Arm (http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-bodySuspension.htm) and welded in BMR box Sub Frame Connectors. Includes the Pro 5.0 shifter and a Moser 12 bolt with 4.10 gears and all the upgrades, 33 spline w/ 1350 yoke (http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=4&pcid=66) i think the rear end alone was over $2200! Clutch and rearend... easily $3500. and heads and cam at $2000 new. easily asking price in those few things alone!
the body and interior have remained untouched over the years, so definitely starting to show its age in some places. The plastic front and back bumper are faded. Only damage is to the right rear quarter panel with a small dent near the tail light and some slight damage to the plastic nose. I think it got bumped in a parking lot. Starts perfectly and sounds extremely mean with its slow lope sound.
Also has brand new ac pump and lines.
Again, the whole setup was put together all at once about 2 years ago and is/was not my daily driver after rebuild and has only about 2.5k miles on all parts at most. The car has been garage kept for the last 4 years. I sold my f250 for my vette that I have now, so I think my new speed funds are going to be going to that car now.
I want to start off with an asking price of $5500 and see what that gets me. Will consider best offer (if I can do that on this site). If needed, I can probably produce receipts on 95% of the parts installed, including heads and cam.
Dont let the pics fool you, the paint has little scratches all around. The car is about 12 years old and the car is definitely showing signs of old age. The front bumper is a little messed up, thats why i keep the mask on it. I was quoted $3k for a paint job from a reputable painter in town and would assume about $1k for mostly new interior. Can get it fixed up, but will up the cost to the buyer. The drivetrain is a great setup if someone wants to pick up the project from here. Remember! BEST OFFER!

the one time i took it to the track, it was when i had the edelbrock (horrible) torque arm on it and i think it ran an 8.3 at 91 mph on street tires in the 1/8. i remember only getting a couple runs in before the torque arm broke and had to be towed home. ended up putting in the bmr torque arm. i took a picture of the two torque arms side by side, the edelbrock was tiny and thin compared to the bmr. i have yet to go back.
heh, the c6 is nice. the TA is faster now, but i think the c6 (stock at the moment) ultimately has more potential
. the bottom end is not forged. wish i had taken the time to do so, but never got around to it. i had a seperate intake that i was going to get fitted for a direct port nitrous setup once i did get the forged bottom end. the bottom end has been rebuilt and balanced at the same time i put on most of the other parts.
i'll see if i can dig up the track times so i can be precise on the numbers. i think they might still be in the glove box of the car. if it was a deal breaker, i'd definitely take and get it dyno'd for whoever wanted it.
