FS: 1999 Saturn SL 5 speed - super clean, super reliable, awesome MPG-CHEAP!
FS: 1999 Saturn SL 5 speed - super clean, super reliable, awesome MPG-CHEAP!
I figured someone here might be interested in a cheap daily driver, so I'm putting this up here. Car is located in southeast WI
I have a 1999 Saturn SL 5 speed with 156k miles for sale, tan in color with tan cloth interior. The car is basically a stripper model (manual windows, locks, seats, etc). This car would make an awesome DD for someone looking to spend an absolute minimal amount of money on initial purchase and fuel and upkeep costs later on. I AVERAGE 38mpg in this car which is a city/hwy MIX and on freeway trips I have gotten over 40mpg numerous times.
This car is super clean for the year and miles. Interior is basically immaculate except for headliner letting go near the right rear of the roof (not bad yet though). The car just got a thorough interior detail including full steam cleaning, including the trunk. It's CLEAN. It also has NEVER been smoked in.
Exterior is also in very nice shape except for some typical rock chips and the clear is peeling at the top of the driver and passenger doors. I guarantee when you see this car you will be surprised at how clean it is for the money.
Car runs awesome and surprisingly good passing power with the 5 speed + 100hp 1.9L sohc motor.
Absolutely everything works as it should, all 4 windows roll up/down properly (by hand of course, lol) all locks work fine, air conditioning works perfectly, hot heat, clutch is good, brakes are good, car drives nice and smooth down the road. Transmission shifts flawlessly.
Car currently has Dunlop Graspic DS-3 snow tires on all 4 corners with plenty of tread (put them on December 2010). This car with these tires goes AWESOME in the snow.
I have put about 25k miles on this car since I bought it a couple years ago and it has not let me down a single time, whether a brutally cold -10 degree day with snow on the road or the heat wave from a couple weeks ago, it's always been perfect.
I am the second owner which can be verified by Carfax so it hasn't been through a bazillion people's hands. Car has clean title also, no shenanigans here.
$1950 OBO
If interested, shoot me a PM.

Bump, added pics!
edit: Forgot to mention that I also put new plugs, wires, and air filter on November 2010. Also just did an oil change (Pennzoil Platinum synthetic) and car has only had synthetic since I've had it.

I had this exact same car when I was in tech college.... Mine was a 98, in dark Blue. Bought it new put 60k on it in 3 years. I never should have gotten rid of it. Does yours have manual steering or power? Mine had manual I think they added power in 99 as a standard feature.
I got 44/45 mpg on the highway, no problem. I drove from Philly to Cleveland on 1 tank of gas every 2/3 weekends. (pulled in on fumes but it was still running when I got home
) I can vouch for this beaing a great car and a great price even if it has some milage on it. Awsome gas milage and it was a blast to drive!
