98 & 01 camaro
98 & 01 camaro
I'm new to the site and don't really know where to post this... i'm not really wanting to sell either of the 2. but will defiantly trade the 01!!
Anyways, i really need some advice on what to do with my 2 camaros. my first camaro was the 98, i haven't had it for that long, but did not have insurance on it. bad mistake!!!!! i got hit in the rear/right side pane' which sent my car spinning across about 5 lanes, then my other side panel bumped into a car at a stop sign which caused the car to bounce back againnn and this time into a fire hydrant which finally stopped me! it destroyed pretty much the whole rear end. well i've been told by body shops that its pretty f*cked so i figured the cheapest way to fix my baby would be to buy a new body... now that i bought the new 01 i'm having 2nd thoughts... i was wondering what you all thought about the damages, is it fixable? if so, how much do you think it would cost? it runs and drives perfect still but i have not chanced it much. also, about how much would a professional complete swap cost?
also, the 01 was completely covered in dirt inside and out when i bought it. i've cleaned it about 5 times already (in and out) and am still not satisfied. i found a nest like thing under both back seats and cleaned them out... under them was some funky brown almost like a sh*t stain! i've used 2 different carpet cleaners and degreaser and it still smells like a barn, literally. what should i use to get rid of this smell?
please tell me what you what do in my situation it'd really help! thanks

Re: 98 & 01 camaro
You put this in the wrong section for one....
Best thing to do with the 01 would be to replace the carpet. You can pickup a decent set for around $75-100 shipped to ya...
The 98 would probably be best parted out or sold to someone who wants a drivetrain and just use the money toward a new car. Putting it back together isn't going to be worth it most likely.

Re: 98 & 01 camaro
Looks totaled to me! My 96 was hit in the rear with what looks like about 10 percent the damage done to yours and the insurance estimator says it will take about $5000. to fix it. If you really like the car and could fix it yourself with parts from a donner car it might be possible.
Re: 98 & 01 camaro
Didn't the person who hit you have insurance? Or was it a hit and run? You should take the car to body shop and have them give you an estimate (check first to see if there is any charge). If the damage is just to the bumper and quarter panel it may not cost as much to fix as mine. I am still negociating with the insurrance company of the jerk who tail ended me. They want to total it.
Re: 98 & 01 camaro
yes he had insurance. but they put me at fault for the wreck. "failure to maintain safe lookout" i was at a stop sign for about a minute waiting for a break in traffic, to keep straight. how the road is set up, i had to cross a flow of traffic. anyways i saw my chance and went, not realizing one of the cars that was in the next small crowd coming towards me was speeding... it was raining, and seeing him going way faster than all the other cars scared the sh*t outta me, so i slammed the gas, and all i remember seeing is the low trac light and felt my back tires spinning still in the middle of the street.. i swear he didnt try to slow down, switch lanes, nothin. thats a memphis driver for ya... they do not care ! but anyways the speed limit on the street was 30mph and thats clearly more than 30mph damage... im hopefully getting it dropped at court with some defensive driving classes that i have to go to. i want to take him to court for the value of my brand new car but dont want to end up being "at fault" and paying their damages and mine.
Re: 98 & 01 camaro
Man! What a bad experience. I think I see your point. If you have liability insurance, that should cover damages to his and his insurance company will want your company to pay his damages. However, if you could somehow prove he was also partially at fault yours may not have to. If you did not have liability insurance, then it may be best not to say anything unless you get a lawyer which is also going to cost you.
