96 Z28 - Help me out?
Hey there, experts of the CamaroZ28 community -
My mom's friend asked me to help her sell her Camaro, but I'm more of a Honda guy, so I don't know much about Camaros other than what I've been researching lately.
Here's the info she gave me:
1996 White T-top Z28 Camaro
Manual transmission (pretty much redundant to say that's a 6-speed, right?)
All standard options, plus leather
43,000 miles
The car is clean; that is, no problems that a 60-year-old woman would notice.
And it has that Corvette engine in it, so that makes it an LS1, right? Are all '96 Z28s LS1s?
Here's the part where I'm a little at a loss - how much to sell it for? From what I've been seeing online, it seems that somewhere between $4500-5500 is the price to shoot for. That about correct?
We're in San Jose, California.
Oh, and if you want to buy it, let me know.
Thanks much in advance for your advice.

its an LT motor not an LS. Considering the milage if its in great shape I would not go below 5 for it. Probably worth more in the 6-6.5 range without seeing it. Just depends on how quick she wants to unload it.
BTW, please dont go telling people it has the "vette" engine. The Corvette just happened to have the same thing with slight modifications to fit it.

So it's an LT. Got it. So if I shouldn't say it has "the 'Vette engine," then what should I say? Will people already know what engine it has? By that, I mean does the '96 Z28 only come with one engine option?
Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it. I'm sure she'll wait for the better price.
And it's still for sale, obviously.

The Z only came with 1 engine that was an LT1. True the Vette also came with an LT1 but it was a 4 bolt main block vs the 2 bolt main in the F body. Other than that it was pretty much the same with the exception of small things. The exhaust manifolds, balancer and belt routing and accessory brackets, ect. LT1 in 93 but it was speed density still had a "chip" in the ecm. 94/5 was an LT1 but OBD1 first years for the EEPROM, 96/7 was also LT1 but OBD2. The LS1 did not show up in the F body till 98.
If they are intrested in it and know anything about a Z they know its the same engine that was in the Vette. If they dont know you can tell them but dont market it as the "vette" engine, its not. Its an LT1
