94 z28 a4
94 z28 a4
I am in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I have a 94 z28 with about 140000 miles on the odometer. I rebuilt the engine with my mechanic buddy less than 5000 miles ago. However, now the automatic transmission is in need of a rebuild. I dont really need the car anymore so it is hard for me to justify spending over 2k on rebuilding the transmission.
The engine runs well, but when the car shifts into 3rd gear it just feels like it is in neutral.
It has a cc305 cam, 1.6 comp camps roller tip rockers and matching pushrods, pace setter long tube headers(no egr or air connections) with ypipe (no cat) and unknown aftermarket muffler.
For the engine rebuild I brought the block and heads to an engine shop and they cleaned the block and heads and checked them for any damage and they said it was all in good shape. They also did a stage 1 port on the heads (still stock size valves but they are new). I reused the rotating assembly but I did have the crankshaft turned. I used new rings, bearing, and gaskets and everything that you would expect to be replaced during a rebuild.
Two problems with the car: The transmission needs to be rebuilt. Also, the person that installed and welded the ypipe in place did a crappy job so the exhaust pipe will tap the torque arm under WOT sometimes.
I forgot to mention that there is probably some air in the cooling system. The car temperature gets pretty high when the car idle's for a long time.
other random parts that I can actually remember with less than 10,000 miles:
MSD Opti
Water Pump
Optima red top
Alternator
slp cold air intake
I would like to get a couple thousand for it but I am really not sure what is realistic considering the bad transmission. So I am looking for offers of what I can get for this car. If I am unable to sell it as is I am thinking about parting it out or even selling it as a junk car.
