2001 Z28 For sale -- 11K original miles
2001 Z28 For sale -- 11K original miles
I had planned on keeping my Z28 for a long time, but family and function get in the way and I need to get a truck to supplement my daily driver. Since I have no experience in selling a car as a private individual, I need some help (and maybe even some offers) from all of you. I usually buy a new car and just trade in the old one.
This is a 2001 Navy Blue Metallic M6 Z28 which is garage kept and driven a few times a month. It has just over 11,000 original miles and looks like a one-year-old car. I have some bolt-ons (see sig), but have kept all of the original parts except the exhaust, so if you wanted to return it to almost stock, you can. It has a brand new set of Z rated tires as well (less than 50 miles on them).
This body is in excellent condition. Not even one door ding (when I drive it, I park in the middle of nowhere). It has some minor scratches from just being in the garage over the years.
First of all, what's the best way to sell a car like this with super low miles? Ebay? AutoTrader? CamaroZ28.com?
I was planning on asking $16,500 for it. A high price for a 2001 Camaro, but again, think of it as a one-year-old car. That's my starting price. I figure if I don't get any bites from that, I can always go down in price. That price is about $10,000 less than I paid for it (including bolt-ons).
Yes, I know you are going to ask for pictures, but I have no recent ones, and it's planning to rain this week (she stays in the garage when this happens). I'm hoping for better weather so I can give it a nice detail job and take some pictures.
If you are interested in the car, you can PM me. I'm located in the Dallas area.
Thanks for the feedback!
Glenn

I went to the Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com) and NADA (www.nadaguides.com) websites, and your asking price is higher than full retail. I realize that you have some mods on your car, but it will be very difficult to get at or above full retail. If you are not in a hurry, you may find a buyer who wants the exact car you have and is willing to pay above retail for it. Best of luck with your sale.
I think that's a fair asking price for a car w/ just 11k on it!
Who give a crap what KBB and NADA say anyhow, 16.5k is a good deal for a NBM 2001 Z28 with only 11k miles on it.
You could get near 18-20 on Autotrader for it.

I think that f-bodies, mustangs, and cars of special interest such as this one, after they are about 5-7 years old, can't be assessed using Kelly Blue Book or NADA.
KBB and NADA could care less if you've got a 6spd with leather versus an automatic with cloth. I mean yes, you do check the boxes for those, but i don't think the value they add for those particular items, doesn't coincide with what the buyer will pay.
I paid waaaaaaaay too much money for my Formula. But, at the time, it was a low mileage one-owner car, with all the paperwork, including the window sticker, and an older woman owned it, so i ponied up and forked over more than it was worth. In the end, i think i got a better car.
Somebody will realize a low miler six speed like that it is valuable, you'll probably just have to wait longer to find a buyer, thats all.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'm in no hurry to sell, it's just that I hardly every drive it and there seems to be more and more times I need a truck as a second vehicle.

Wow, clean car. If I was looking to sell a car, the first place I would post my ad would be the places I looked to buy a car. I found both of my vehicles on autotrader or autorv.com. I would also post a for sale ad over on ls1tech.com
