1996 Impala SS Black/gray

1996 Impala SS, 112,000 miles, black with a gray
interior. Purchased in December 2003 from a good
friend. He took great care of it and I, too, take
great care of it! This car has a great ownership
history!

The car runs fantastic! A recent compression test
shows good compression on all 8 cylinders. The
transmission was replaced around 90,000 miles by the
previous owner and shifts strong. I change the oil
every 3,000-4,000 miles with Royal Purple synthectic.
The rear end fluid was changed to Royal Purple
synthetic in December of last year. The transmission
fluid is clean and clear. The coolant has been
completely changed out to the green coolant (no more
radiator corrosion from the pink stuff!) The spark
plugs and wires were replaced shortly before I
purchased the car in 2003. The car has had no
mechanical problems whatsoever since I bought it.

The exterior is very good with a very few minor
problems. The painted factory wheelwell moldings are
in good shape, but could probably use replacement
within the next year or so. New-in-package prepainted
factory GM moldings are included with the car. The
hood has a small paint imperfection on the lower right
corner that could easily be touched up.

The interior is in exceptionally great shape! The
seats have no wear and no tears. The factory gray
carpet has some wear, but the black aftermarket floor
mats look very good. The dash is clean and
crack-free. All of the interior plastic is in
fantastic factory-new shape!

The chassis is very clean. There is no serious rust
or corrosion on any frame or suspension parts, only
surface imperfections.

The car is stock except for the addition of the
following:

-ATR "Pitbull" stainless steel cat-back exhaust. What
a great sounding exhaust! Not too quiet, not too
loud. In my opinion it's the perfect exhaust for a
B-body! This cost over $750 new!

-Homemade cold-air induction. The previous owner
worked at a metal fabrication shop and made this
intake. It adds good power and a great sound, and the
red anodized pipe adds a lot of flash under the hood!
All of the factory intake components are also
included.

-F-body intake elbow. This cleans up the underhood
appearence by eliminating the factory "home-plate"
resonator on top of the intake manifold, and looks far
better than the factory elbow with the resonator
removed and plugged. It also adds power due to the
larger throat area compared to the factory B-body
piece. The factory elbow is also included with the
car.

-Lionel's smooth fiberglass bumpers. These are my
favorite aftermarket part on the car! They eliminate
the factory moldings on the front and rear of the car
and drop a few pounds, too! The factory bumpers come
with the car, as well.

-Intrax lowering springs. These drop the Impala about
2" and add a great look to these cars! The factory
springs are also included with the car.

-Black powdercoated factory wheels. The factory
wheels have been powdercoated black with a silver lip.
This gives the car a great "muscle" look. You get
the look of a custom wheel with the ride quality and
understated appearence of a factory wheel. Also
included with the car are a pair of steel wheels that
could be used for slicks or winter tires if desired.

-Clear corner lenses. The factory lenses also come with the car.

-Tinted windows. Done by the previous owner. It looks to me to be about 35% all the way around.

As stated, this car runs and drives great! I wanted
one of these since they came out, and was fortunate to
have a chance to buy the exact car I wanted from
somebody I knew took good care of it! Since then I've
babied it. I wish I didn't have to sell it, but I
bought a new GTO and this car is not being driven
enough to justify keeping it. It's quite a looker and
gets lots of comments! $9500 takes it home!
