Will WMA files sound better than MP3 music on my CD player?

I asked this over on LS1.Com
Maybe someone here may know something about this:
________________________________________

I just purchased a Pioneer CD/MP3/WMA player for my 98 TA.

I have a question: I understand that "WMA" means "Windows Media Audio", but, what the heck is it? I have downloaded a bunch of MP3 music files and burned these to both music format and MP3 format disks to play in the car. However, I have never seen a WMA music file to download.

Will these WMA music files (if I can even find them) sound better than MP3 music if I can burn them to a disk and play them with this Pioneer system I have, or is it just a feature I will NEVER use?

BTW, I have a Plextor 48X CD burner with Roxio Platinum 5 software. Do you think this will allow me to burn WMA CDs?

Again....What is it

Thanks,
Ron

I don't know how they will sound, but I think you can get twice as many of them on a disc as you can MP3 files. I've heard they sound just as good if not better. Try doing a google search on the topic and see what you can find out.

WMA is just Microsoft's version of an MP3. When you copy music it uses the same amount and everything. Just click on your properties and you will see that you can make them 28kps to 192 kps. Just like an mp3 The Roxio will not burn it since it can not read the file format. You will have to convert it to MP3 and so forth.

So, the bottom line: I can just forget this whole "WMA" deal, and just continue to download my MP3 files and either record them on a CD disk as either a music file (about 25 songs per disk) or as a MP3 file (a lot more)

I had a feeling this whole WMA deal was just a bunch of BS that I would never use!

Roxio Easy CD Creator can burn WMA. If you choose to make a cd in Windows media player it automatically converts your music to WMA then to CDDA. I prefer Easy CD Creator though because of CDText.

WMA holds twice as much music so that generally means the file is more compressed. which equals out to not having the full range sound being decreased. Good luck
