Where does this amp wire go?

I took my amp out of my 97 Z28 to put in my new 97 Z28 (So i'm basically moving my system from one car to another.
My amp has a wire called RMT located between the 12V power supply and Ground. It went thru my firewall to somewhere under the hood but I don't know where.
I asked my friend and he said the wire was hooked to the starter/ignition somehow so that when my key was in the ignition position, the sub turned on, but if it was in the aux (back) position, it was off.

So, how do i hook this wire up. I don't know what to connect it to under my hood so that it works the same way.
Thanks,
Jay

That's the remote turn on lead. It gets connected to the HU. When the HU turns on it sends 12v to the amp to turn it on.

If he has a stock radio can't it be connected to a fuse in the fuse box that turns on and off with the ignition? Ex: the radio fuse.

Yeah- the head unit/stereo is stock:

I didn't know there was a Radio fuse. That would make sense though (assuming the fuse is under the hood) because the wire ran down the drivers side and thru the firewall w/ the 12V lead.
Since I'm doing the re-install myself, any thoughts on how to splice into the Radio fuse? I've never done that before (obviously), and don't wanna pay $40+ to have them hook it up.
Thanks again,
J

In that case connect it to the car's fuse panel. Find a fuse that is only hot with the ignition turned on ( the radio fuse would be good) and connect it to that.

The fuse box with the radio fuse is actually inside the car. Open your driver side door and look on the side of the dash. There is a small panel that pops off. (It attached with velcro) Reading the diagram on the inside of the panel locate your radio fuse. The easiest way, although not the best way, to hook your wire up to is to simply pull the fuse and wrap some of your wire around one of the prongs. Then jam the fuse back in.

Hehe, I totally understand. It is possible to get to the back of the fuse panel, but I've never done it on our cars. Once you get to the back just splice into the wire coming from the radio fuse plug.

Forget about "jamming" anything. Use a fuse tap instead. You should be able to find them at Rat Shack. They're a small piece of metal that one of the blades of the fuse goes thru. The other end has a blade connector that you attach your wire to. Stick the fuse thru the tap and replace the fuse back into it's position.

Well my amp got the signal from the middle right speaker, not the Head unit, so i had that. But i guess i need the ignition thing on top of that.
