Post whats the best aftermarket speakers

I will be upgrading my system shortly with siome new speakers and head unit, I've been powering them with a decent alpine 60 watt amp, but that stock junk just ain't cuttin it. I will probably go with an alpine or clarion, since I have heard they are best head units, which speakers are best, I only have the four 6 inch speakers, the front are the component. I have been hearing that polk and infinity are best, anyone have any comment.

depends on how much you want to spend and what sounds good to you. I've had Polk before and it was alright, but I think Infinity might be slightly better. Just in-case, I would not bother replacing the rear speakers and just put all your money in a good front component set.

Some of the "best" car speakers I've ever heard were Dynaudios. If you got the cash get them.

Polk and Infinity make good car speakers. I would take the Polks over Infinity though. Infinity woofers (the Kappas and the Reference series) don't seem to handle loud mid-bass very well. Thats the main reason why I switched from the Infinity Reference I had to Boston Acoustics in my car.

Save up $350 and wait a month or two and then buy the Adire Audio Koda components. Hopefully the pre-order price will be somewhere around $300. If I didn't have my Diamond Hex's I would definately buy them.

ANY CDT Audio speakers. Either components, coaxials, or braxials. From the classic and cambria series through the Eurosports. I never heard a bad CDT speaker yet. Highly reccommended.

Diamond HEX series with silk tweeters are very good. Dynaudio are awesome. JL Audio XR and VR series components are also decent. Focal Polykevlar series are also good. But with most Focal speakers, the tweeters are very revealing and sensitive to how clean the signal is from the source and amp. If either one is not clean, they can sound harsh at high volumes. Infinity Kappa are also a good choice, but they can sound bright with the wrong source/amp.

As for head units, I would choose Eclipse, Nakamichi, older Alpines (7909 comes to mind), Pioneer Premier, or high-end Clarion.

I personally would not get a newer Alpine. Why? Because I just bought a Alpine CDA-7998 and I hate it. The sound quality is terrible, compared to an Eclipse. My older Pioneer DEH-940 and Clarion 815MP sounded cleaner. The Alpine makes all the cymbals sound like swooshy 'SSSSS' type sounds. For the price they ask for the unit, it's overpriced. Way to much flash and dazzle, with poor sound quality IMHO.

I'm on my 4th head unit in one year. I started with the Clarion 815MP (high noise floor), Pioneer DEH-940 (slow MP3 access with terrible MP3 SQ playback, noisy/weak FM tuner), Alpine CDA-7998 (Excellent features, looks cool, terrible SQ) to an Eclipse 8062. The sound quality of the Eclipse HU is far and above anything else I've heard. Nothing even comes close in it's price range. There are some drawbacks to the Eclipse, namely no MP3 or sattelite radio. I'm willing to take the tradoffs for better SQ.

Just my $.02.

Check out ADS. The older (4-5yrs ago) Diamond Hex speakers sounded awsome & I have heard they started making great sounding speakers again after taking a few years off.

Hmmmm, I have heard some hype about this Eclipse HUs. People say good things about them. I just have one dumb question though. I can't seem to find their site on the internet. I tried a search at google and of course tried typing in an address that I thought would be it but got some other sites as well. Or if there is a vendor that sells these units, that would work too. Thanks.
