what speakers with alpine 7894
I plan on buying an Alpine cda-7894 with the new Vdrive internal amplifier. I really dont want to deal with the added clutter of adding a second external amp to my sytem for front speakers, but i would like components. Are there any coponent 6.75's i could use with this headunit and get decent results. If not what would be the best choice for a coaxial front speaker.
It really all depends on how much money you want to spend. I have an Alpine 7893, same internal amp, and found that Pioneer 1665's and 1661's sounded great. But, I mostly bought them to go with my Infinity 1220W's (Yep, changed from 1020W's) for midrange. They were a little lacking in the down low.
If you want, check out www.sounddomain.com to do some comparison shopping. Then just go with what falls in your price range.

I just installed an Alpine 7893, I know its not the same as yours, but similar. I haven't had time to do the front doors yet, but I'm going with all Audiobahn speakers. 6.5 in the back seat(built in tweeters not connected) and 6x8's in the rear with the built in tweeters connected. Right now it sounds pretty good, but the stock front's are taking away from the new speakers, very noticeable difference. I'm doing 6.5 components in the front when I get time. I also dynamatted the rear of the car. I know this isn't advice, but it's just to give you an idea of what someone else has done. I'm also looking to put a 10" sub eventually (I'm not into big boxes and losing the little trunk space I have). Good luck bro!!
Price range is pretty open...my concern is more along the lines of what i can power with that internal amp safely, and retaining good sound quality. Most people seem to run an external amp for components.....and i'm curious if there are any that don't need that much power to sound good.
I installed a vdrive alpine HU and 5 1/4" type-r components in a friend's VW a few months ago and it sounded decent. It really would sound MUCH better with an external amp but if you really don't want to add one then you could use the internal amp but don't expect too much.
Since you'll be feeding little power to them you'll want to look for a component set with a higher sensitivity so you can get the most sound.
