can someone help me pick an amp for this sub, Alpine SWR-1041D? i would like a couple suggestions if possible so i ahve some choices. and is this a good sub for a stealth box?

I'm using a Type-S in my Vantage Stealthbox. It blows away the JL 10W3 I had before.

As for an amp go with a quality Class-D subwoofer amp. Get as much power as you can afford. I'm using an MTX 6500D that pumps out 600W of class-D power.

 

whats the difference between the type s's and type r's

 

The Type-R handles more power and has a bigger surround than the Type-S. I think they are a waste of money in a single subwoofer setup. Whats the point in having a 10" subwoofer that has the same cone area as an 8" sub? If you are going to have multiple subs I can see the use of the Type-R but for a single subwoofer application I think the Type-S is the better sub.

 

Check out some of hifonics' amps. They are kindof expensive but well worth the money and alot better than other amps that claim to be the same rms. If you don't know where to find themthen one place is thezeb.com.
